If a user plans to submit a proposal for ALMA observations to be executed in coordination with other observatories, the user should indicate this by adding a time constraint in the OT (answer ‘Yes’ to the question ‘Are the observations time-constrained’).
PIs should specify the details of the time constraint in the corresponding field in the Technical Justification, including the requested time interval between observations at ALMA and the other observatories. The specific time window can be adjusted at a later time if the proposal is accepted. However, PIs should make sure that the initially entered time constraint is compatible with any other constraint of the ALMA observations. In particular, changes in the Angular Resolution or Large Angular Scale request that limit the observability of a target (by constraining the necessary configuration) are not expected to change upon submission. Therefore, PIs should check that such requests have an overlap withtime constraints due to coordination with other observatoriesso that projects can be scheduled.
